Inspired By Instagram, Snapchat Stories, Popular mobile messaging app WhatsApp launched its new “Status” feature is now available to all users across the globe on iPhone, Android and Windows devices.The new WhatsApp Status feature allows users to share pictures, videos, and GIFs with their contacts, which will disappear after 24 hours. Once your app is updated to the latest version, you will see a Status tab on the top bar.The ‘Status Tab’ is  located between the Calls and Chats tabs, in the WhatsApp UI.  Just as in Snapchat, you’ll first see your own updates in the bar. Below that, you can see your friends’ status. You can add a status update by just clicking the new update button on the bottom right corner which opens the camera. At the bottom, you will find all your recent photos, videos and GIFs in a strip as well. So you can either click a photo or hold for video or add an existing item.

‘Status Tab’  located between the Calls and Chats tabs, in the WhatsApp UI. Users will be able to view their contact’s recent status updates and the replies they have received on their own status. Users also have the option privacy settings to make their status visible only to specific people and by deleting their status, users can remove it from their contact’s phones, regardless of whether they have already viewed it or not.
In New update, Whatsapp claim that this Status will be secure and encrypted from end-to-end encryption. “Whatsapp” also changes its UI having 4 tabs including camera icon, chats, status and calls. You can now reply on friends status also in whatsapp.

 

The Status feature has 3 privacy options.

My Contact: Status will be shared with all contacts.

My Contacts except: Status will be shared with all contacts excluding the contacts you don’t want to share.

Only share with: Status will be shared only to the contacts you want to share.

Users can also see who has viewed their Status update by tapping the eye icon at the bottom of any Status update.

The user can now reply on friends status also.

Now, by introducing WhatsApp status, Facebook wants you to tell more stories to almost all of your friends. This messaging app has over a billion users worldwide and so, this new feature will have a large audience than Snapchat. As we Know, Mark Zuckerberg owns both Facebook and Whatsapp, and the social turf war seems to going on between Whatsapp and Snapchat right now. lets see, Who will win?
